Thousands of people lined the streets in various parts of the world to mourn the loss of pop icon Michael Jackson, 50.
Times Square became a shrine to the ever popular singer as news emerged that he was in hospital and later news confirming that the mega-star had in fact passed away after a heart attack.
At first, when news broke of Jackson’s death, it was hard to believe and comprehend that such a thing would happen. But as Jermaine Jackson, the brother of Michael emerged out front of the UCLA Medical Centre to delilver a short and emotional speech to the thousands gathered there, it was clear that the legend had passed on.
It was this confirmation that made it all the more clear to everyone.
Crowds had also lined the streets of Gary, his orignial home town where he grew up and where he first became known as part of the Jackson 5. His home based fans began gathering on the streets upon hearing the news of his passing to group together and remember ‘where he came from’ and ‘what his career meant’.
It was reported that Jackson’s body was airlifted from the UCLA Medical Centre shortly after he was pronounced dead and there will be an autopsy on the stars body in the short days following.
Funeral plans will be made by the family and they have requested to be left in privacy to greive at this stage.
